Jade Sprout, known as “Cui Ya” in Chinese, is a rare, handpicked green tea made entirely of single tea buds. Picked in early April before the Qing Ming Festival, the buds of Jade Sprout are flat and smooth, resembling sunflower seeds. It takes about 60,000 fresh tea buds to make one kilogram (a little more than 2 pounds) of dried tea. Jade Sprout has a soft and fresh fragrance with a light, delicate taste and a hint of sweetness.

Harvest: Early April, 2018 (pre-Qing Ming)

This tea is organically grown but not certified.

Use 1 teaspoon per 6 oz cup. Heat water until steaming gently (170º F). Steep 3 minutes. Good for multiple infusions.

China, Guizhou Province, Fenggang County

With its subtropical climate, unpolluted clean air and high altitudes, Guizhou Province is ideal for growing high-quality green tea. The soil in the Guizhou Plateau is rich in zinc and selenium which contribute to a a higher level of anti-oxidants in the leaf. The favorable soil conditions and longer growing period in high altitudes allow Guizhou's green teas to absorb more nutrients and also offer richer flavors.
