Pairing Tea and Chocolate
Ever since the introduction of the British afternoon tea tradition, tea has been considered a beverage that accompanies tiny cakes and pastries. What may not be well-known to tea lovers is that chocolate and tea is a match made in heaven. Here are some suggestions for pairing teas with various types of chocolate to create your own tea tasting:
White chocolate – try with Matcha, Sencha or Dragonwell
Milk chocolate – pair with Dragonwell, Sencha, Darjeeling, Oolong and Masala Chai
Dark chocolate – match with Assam, Keemun, Gyokuro, Oolong, Matcha and Earl Grey
If you enjoy making your own chocolates, try enhancing your favorite truffle recipe by infusing cream with your favorite loose tea. We recommend using around 2 tablespoons of loose tea per ½ cup of cream. Let the tea steep in the cream for 20 minutes, then strain.
As an alternative, add a magical finishing touch to store-bought truffles by rolling them in Matcha.
